The seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women

The seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will be held from March 9 to 19, 2026. The priority theme of the session will be: ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including through promoting the creation of inclusive and fair legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, as well as removing structural barriers.

The review theme will be: the full and effective participation of women and their decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-fifth session).

The active participation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is a crucial element of the work of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). NGOs have had a significant impact on shaping the current global policy framework on women’s empowerment and gender equality: the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
